As CEO of McCann Central, Dean leads a 525-strong fully integrated marketing communications agency with offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Leeds and London.
Specialising in integrated comms and award-winning creative, McCann provides a range of best-in- class services including strategy, research and planning, design and creative, broadcast, digital, PR and social, internal comms and employee engagement, activation and media buying.
Under his tenure, the agency has experienced phenomenal growth – more than doubling in size in the last six years alone. In that time, the agency has also picked up the first of many subsequent awards at Cannes as well as D&AD and the One Show – all of which have put McCann Central firmly on the international map for creativity and effective excellence.
Prior to McCann, Dean cut his teeth in the industry as a media planner and buyer before making the leap into managing a commercial radio station. A true entrepreneur, Dean went on to set up his own advertising agency, Campaign Concepts, specialising in retail and direct response marketing. Rapidly growing to employ more than 150 people with four offices across the UK and a turnover of more than £30m, Campaign Concepts merged with McCann in 1997 and Dean joined as a member of the board. In 2003, he was appointed CEO.
Dean is passionate about his home city of Birmingham – championing it as a creative hotbed. Having served as a mentor and sat on local education boards, his passion lies in skills development both in and outside of the agency world.
