Create Central Chair Ed Shedd gives evidence to House of Lords Committee on BBC Charter Renewal

Create Central Chair Ed Shedd recently gave evidence to the House of Lords Communications & Digital Committee as part of its inquiry into BBC Charter Renewal, helping to ensure the voice of the West Midlands creative content sector is heard at the highest level of national policy discussions.
Appearing before the Committee on 9 June, Ed spoke about the BBC's role in supporting the UK's creative economy, with a particular focus on the importance of investment in the nations and regions. Drawing on Create Central's work with industry partners across the West Midlands, he highlighted how regional commissioning, skills development and long-term investment are critical to building a thriving and sustainable screen sector across the UK.
The session provided an important opportunity to showcase the significant contribution the West Midlands is making to the UK's creative industries and to reinforce the case for continued investment in regional talent, businesses and production capacity as part of the next BBC Charter.
