Birmingham filmmakers have an exciting opportunity to showcase their work internationally at the KURZSUECHTIG Short Film Festival in Leipzig, Germany, taking place from 7–11 April 2027.
As part of the festival's Country in Focus programme, Great Britain will take centre stage, with a special spotlight on Birmingham, celebrating the city's longstanding twinning relationship with Leipzig.
Festival organisers are looking to showcase 4–6 short films from Birmingham and England, exploring socially relevant themes and offering German audiences an insight into contemporary life in the UK.
Films across a range of genres will be considered, including fiction, documentary, animation and experimental film.
The special screening on 8 April 2027 will also provide opportunities for cultural exchange and international networking, with plans to invite 2–3 participating filmmakers to Leipzig for a post-screening discussion.
This is a fantastic opportunity for West Midlands filmmakers to reach new audiences, build international connections and explore potential future collaborations.
